Hi, I’m Sheryl.

Thanks for finding your way to my corner of the internet. The best way to introduce myself is by taking it back to the one thing that brought me to where I’m at both professionally and personally - Travel.

Fuelled by a nomadic upbringing across 6 countries, I’m the product of different environments and cultural influences. I’m an Indo-Canadian, born in US and raised in Seychelles, Germany, Kenya, India, and Canada. As a global citizen and Third Culture Kid (TCK), my experiences lead me to view the world through a lens of cultures, lifestyles, and perspectives. Traveling moulded me into an information sponge with a curious mind and taught me adaptability in the face of change and uncertainty. It is also the reason why I’m passionate about understanding human behaviour and how we interact with products and experiences.

Professionally, I build digital experiences, a career that is fulfilling, exciting, and dynamic. A spontaneous move to New York City with 2 suitcases on a $10 Megabus ride kickstarted this journey. Although in the midst of a recession, going niche so early in my career meant that I could build a skill set in digital media and social advertising that not many had in 2008; a risk I’m so glad I took. My experiences taught me to continuously think outside of the box and on my feet. The application of these experiences and learnings are more relevant than ever when it comes to human-centric ideas and solutions. I’d like to grow along this path and work in a multi-disciplinary environment where I can immerse myself in creating authentic work that adds value and meaning.

A few other random facts about me:

  • My most memorable travel experience till date is trekking at 13,700ft. on the Inca Trail in Peru

  • I moonlight as an interior decorator of my small boutique decorating and styling company, founded on the idea of connecting people with their spaces - also born out of my travel experiences

  • I love eating and trying out different cuisines and start my days with a sit-down breakfast. I’m a brewed-chai addict and enjoy sharing this calm and beautiful process of a daily Indian ritual with others

  • I’m an advocate of slow living and travel and this journey has been somewhat accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic

GUIDING STRENGTHs

PASSION DRIVES VISION.

I'm passionate about creating things by getting down to the core of the subject. At the end of the day, my ultimate goal is to be a thought-leader and add value to the world around me. I want to work in spaces and places driven by the same purpose.

IDEA GENERATION.

Ideation comes from creativity, research, insight, and curiosity of the problem. I want to use this approach to collaborate with smart, like-minded individuals using a diverse set of skills to impactful solutions.

STRATEGY THROUGH INSIGHTS.

Consumer findings, measurement and reporting come as second nature to me. Being analytical means that I am at ease drilling into metrics and data that actually matters.

CHALLENGE CONVENTIONAL JOB DESCRIPTIONS.

I don't believe in standardized, cookie-cutter job descriptions. I want to be challenged every day without the confines of set organizational roles. My experiences have always been fluid, which is why my skill set exists at the cross-roads of products, marketing, and technology.

KNOWING THE PULSE.

As someone who's lived and traveled across the globe, being able to see different perspectives, humility, and empathy are important traits that I bring to the table and channel through my work.

CREATING FOR THE AUDIENCE.

Speaking, training, and presenting to various levels of business has helped me grow as a strong communicator. I understand that going into every presentation, meeting, or medium requires crafting a story for that particular audience vs. a one-size fits all.
